01.02.2015 the first public hike called EKSTRÖM MARCH was organized by non-profit organization Estlander and Estonian Defence League on the route Valkla-Hara. The event was dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Tartu Peace Treaty and brought together more than 200 participants. The main aim was to popularize active outdoor habits and to introduce the war history and Estonian Defence League. It was an easy hike on the historic battle routes of Swedish-Finnish-Estonian commander Martin Ekström.
The starting point was next to Valkla monument, a place of a historic wartime landing site. The event was not designed to be a contest – the main aim was to bring people out to the open air and the small village roads of the Lahemaa National Park. The route was 31 km long, the turning points were marked and the average time on route was 6-8 hours.
