Ekström’s March 2018 took place on 27 January 2018, starting at 10 a.m.
The starting point was in front of the Kolga Manor, which was also the finishing point of all routes.
This year, people could choose between three different hiking routes, look around at the fair, and enjoy a rich cultural programme.
The approximate length of the hiking routes was 7, 17, and 30 kilometres. The marked routes went along forest paths, village lanes, and nature trails. None of the routes crossed impenetrable wilderness, whereas most of the walking was still done in the spectacular Lahemaa National Park.
On the day of the march, it was possible to enjoy a rich cultural programme in and around the Kolga Manor – Kolga Museum opened its doors to all hikers, the manor house hosted Thematic Cinema and Romance Cafe, and beautiful music could be heard inside and outside.
At the Old Time Fair one could buy antiques, handicraft, farm food, and take part in different workshops. Everyone could see how horseshoing is done, learn birch bark crafting, practice their calligraphy skills writing love letters, and build bird houses in the workshop led by Nordic Houses. In the true fashion of the beginning of the 20th century, those interested in the bird house workshop were taken from Kolga Manor to the Nordic Houses production house in a horse cart.
A big thank you to everyone who made Ekström’s March 2018 possible!
